Survivor Analysis
by Rich Glanzer
Wow! What started out as possibly the worst Survivor ever, finished as possibly the best season finale yet. Though that's not that surprising, considering emotions were sure to be higher since it was friends backstabbing friends.
I made many predictions throughout the show, some were dead on, some were dead off. First of all, I must pat myself on the back for predicting Amber would win it all before the show even started. Now that I've done that, here are some observations I'd like to share to some of the contestants. I realize they'll probably never read this, but if they do, you have my opinion.
For all those people that booed Jeri, I have one question. Why? I'm sure my brother was leading the chorus (he was in the audience), and for that, I'd like to apologize to her. I sometimes tell people I'm an only child. (I'm not a big fan of my sister as well, since she won a dollar when Amber beat Rob) But back to Jerri, she played the game hard and tough each time she was on. I respect that.
One person who I respected very much the first time, but lost a lot of that was Lex. You know, he seems like a great guy, and I'm sure he is. But Lex, like I said before, you beat out around 50,000 people to get on the show, then you were chosen as an All-Star. Was way before merge really the time to be scared of competition? Grow a set buddy. And I think your head may have realized you were about to grow a Mohawk, because if you do get rid of the strongest players, don't do it from your own team until AFTER the merge! As for your beef with Rob, I don't necessarily blame you for being angry, I could see your point. But had you voted Amber off instead of Jerri, you still would have been the next to go. Great speech though.
Is there anyone nicer than Kathy? I knew she'd vote for Rob all the way. She is a sucker, but there are worse things to be. She really impressed me with her gameplay. I'd vote her as most improved if it wasn't for…
Rupert. You da man! I thought you were totally overrated during your first season, but the way you changed your strategy this season was very impressive. Led less, followed more, but still were a solid #2 next to Rob. Your biggest mistake was not explaining to Jenna that if she votes off you instead of playing for the rock, is she can never beat Rob and Amber in an individual challenge. Though of course she wouldn't have beaten you either.
Jenna Lewis, she was the most improved during the game. Her incredibly dumb strategy of telling Ethan that she had to get rid of all the winners, and openly being loud and obnoxious during the challenge Chapera lost (she wasn't on that tribe yet) changed midway. She made many decisions with Rupert, and though I could see where she could be annoying, she was dead on when she wished either Rob or Amber would have stood up for themselves.
Tina. Wrong place, wrong time. You didn't have a chance.
Ethan. Should have slapped Lex in the face and made him realize the merge wasn't coming up, and he would stand no chance against Chapera. Should have also shot those arrows.
Alicia. Ever consider anger management courses?
Big Tom. Bdlofodhgodlfjeofhdolfd. I don't know what that means but I'm sure you do. Classic diss on Rob at immunity. You got scrwed pal.
Colby. I don't know you. But from the outside you need to lighten up. Though I could see where wearing out your flip flops could be very upsetting. (Curb Your Enthusiasm joke) By the way, that was one of the funniest TV moments ever. Good job.
Jeff Probst. I hope you get your A-game back. You didn't have it this season. How you didn't ask Rob how disappointed he was when he lost was beyond me. Also should have quizzed this next guy about why he sucked this season….
Rob Cesternino. Man this show needed you!! Though they needed the old Rob, not the one that showed up this season. You did this to yourself. And we the viewing public suffered. Had you lasted that vote, I bet you would have won.
Sue Hawk. You quit, so why should I waste time writing about you?
Jenna M. While you quit as well, you had a good reason. Would have liked to have seen you and Heidi in this one.
Shii Ann. Great feedback to the jury. Dead on. Glad you got the car.
Rudy: Played much better this time around. Cant wait to see you play when you're 80!
Boston Rob. I guess that hat did you in huh? I love how you answered Alicia's question. Competitively. Mercilessly would have been good too. Most dominant Survivor ever. The only reason you didn't win like Brian from season five is, the jury was more vindictive this time around. You did that to yourself though. Got the best looking girl in Survivor history though. Good job.
Amber. I predicted you before the season started. But to admit how lucky you were to get where you got was not a smart thing. It would have lost my vote (though Rob would have had mine anyways).
Lastly I'd like to say something to Mark Brunette. I hope this is the last All-Star edition we ever see. Or at least for awhile. It was great tonight. Best Survivor single episode ever maybe. But the lack of passion displayed by so many was hard to stomach. It was at times like a season of Osten's. And though Shii Ann seems like a nice person, how is she an All Star over someone like Heidi? And how didn't Brian from Survivor five make it? He was perhaps the best Survivor ever.
