Survivor Commentary

The General

The General's Thoughts
Episode 12

by Rob Decanio

Survivor All Stars is finally coming into the home stretch. With the jury starting to form, this game will change every week.

The show starts with another horrible long lasting storm that has everyone's emotions and comfort levels peaking. Shii Ann wonders what she is even doing there and so does most of the viewing audience.

Hats off to the Dream Team once again for that great combined Reward/Immunity Challenge. But with Lex gone now, Rob has very little physical competition out there. Once again Rob wins immunity and gives a some what good gesture in everyone receiving there letters from home. Why anyone would even think that this was anything but strategy on his part is beyond me. Myself, I would have told Rob to take the letter and shove it, for I would be seeing my family in about ten days anyway. As good as it is to get that message from your loved ones, it also makes your mind wander in a game where you need to keep your head in it constantly. I will say that knowing Rob's brother Mike, I would have enjoyed seeing that whole video he made. I'm sure it was funny to say the least.

The mad pre-Tribal Council scramble continues this week with Kathy and Shii Ann trying to sway Big Tom and Alicia. Why these two are still so loyal to Rob and Amber really confuses me. As clear as it seems to the viewing audience that Rob, Amber and Jenna are so tight it should seem clear to these players too. We are getting that edited down version too.

Tribal Council is always the apex to any Survivor episode and this one was no exception. Lex, our first jury member, arrived at Tribal Council with a new look and a bag full of facial expressions. It seems very clear to me that he is on the war path. Kathy probably knew before she arrived there that she was down to a precious few hours remaining in the game. Even though her fate was sealed, she handed out a lot of free advice to the remaining players.

In the upcoming episode I would think that Shii Ann, Big Tom and Alicia were more in danger of eviction then the other four. But the politics of the game are crucial now. As good as Rob is doing, I don't know if he could pull off anything better then second place if he makes it to that final two. Some jury members may not consider how well you played more then how you evicted them. Revenge votes can kill you and Rob had better start getting more friends on that jury then enemies.
