Why everyone wanted to see Rob win? Well, almost everyone...some of us. A few? Well, I wanted to see him win. Anyway, we wanted to see him win because we wanted to see if he could get away with it. Get away with the back-stabbing and double dealing.
It reminded of a movie I saw with John Cusack. For the life of me I can't remember the name of it. Anyway, in the movie John plays a guy down on his luck, living in a town that has no work. His own Father won't hire him to work on docks unloading ships because there are men in town more in need of a job. They have children to feed. One day, John is driving around with his friend and they find a little over 1 million dollars that fell off the back of an Armored Truck. This guy will never see that much money in his life, you know he isn't going to turn it in to the police. Now through the rest of the movie John is trying to get the money laundered using the local Mafia. If you know anything about the mob you know they aren't the most trust worthy people. John now has to somehow get the money back and at the same time not get captured by the police. During the course of the movie you're rooting for John to get himself out of this mess, with the money of course. It was similar to watching the Survivor Finale.
It's a dream we all have of finding that pot gold at the end of the Rainbow and getting away with it. Getting away before the Leprechaun catches us stealing his gold. It is the same with Rob. We wanted to see him get away with lying and back-stabbing. We wanted to see him get away with making the other players look like fools thinking they were in control of the game. We wanted to see the person that Outwitted, Outplayed and made risky moves win in the end. We wanted to see Rob "get away with it".
To quote Roger's final words, "He didn't get Outwitted, or Outplayed...he just got Outlasted."
If you are going to be a contestant on Survivor and plan to emulate Rob just be sure to practice standing on a log before you go.
By the way, if you know the movie I was speaking of please tell me the name of it because it will bug me all day. Use the feedback button you up top. Thanks.
Thank you for the many Feedback letters! The name ovie was 1993's 'Money for Nothing'.
To Margie from Australia. Sorry if I confuse the word 'than' with 'then' but I'm not a professional writer. I write like I speak and the word 'than' just isn't in my vocabulary. I'm from New York and 'than' never comes out of my mouth. If I said than people would think I'm from the south, not that there is anything wrong with southerners. I guess it's just a New York thing. Be glad you never heard my Uncle speak because he says 'tree' instead of 'three and 'shrawberry' instead of 'strawberry'. I'm glad you enjoy my articles in spite of the errors. Thank you for the feedback -Gerard.
Well, this show turned out to be nothing more then a filler to bridge the gap between the shocking exit of Christy last week and the Season Finale on Sunday. The only really exciting parts were the fire and Heidi's Tribal Council speech. And I was more concerned about the monkey in the tree then any of the Survivors or their stuff.
So let us begin with Butch. Butch, Butch, Butch, you let me down. This week was your chance! This was your wake up call. Knock Knock Knock ...it's opportunity calling. This is Survivor not the Boy Scouts. No one is going to give you a merit badge for collecting the most wood. I don't understand it, what were you thinking? Were you expecting a sudden snow storm to hit the Amazon? Were you worried that some other campers would come by and take all the good fire wood? Instead of collecting wood you should have been working out a deal with Heidi and Jenna. Butch, could you not figure out in your head that if you got rid of Rob and Matt you stood a better chance of winning the Final Immunity Challenge against the Boobey Twins? I'm sick over it!
If Butch wins and becomes "Sole Survivor" I will be so disappointed. It would be the biggest travesty in Survivor's history. Worse then Vecepia's win on Survivor Marquesas. He did nothing to deserve the win or the money. If Butch wins don't give him the million dollars give him a million dollars worth of fire wood!
Let's move on to the other interesting part of the show. What happened at Tribal Council. Heidi what color is the sky in your world? This fantasy land you seem to be living in looks to be like a nice place to visit. Did the doctor mistakenly replace your brain with a breast implant as well? Mastermind? The guys are scared of me? What exotic rainforest plants have you been smoking and can I have some? I was actually laughing at her during this part of the show. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
I was happy to see Heidi go, I couldn't bare to look at her anymore. She desperately needs to eat some food. I thought Elizabeth from Survivor 2 lost a lot of weight but geez Heidi. She wins the award for "Most Weight Lost That You Never Had To Lose In The First Place". Here is my impression of Heidi &:)-3-< ...not bad eh?
Both Heidi's and Butch's chances to win went up in smoke just like their shelter by not taking a chance on eachother. On a side note, the fire was not Butch's fault it was everyone's fault. When you leave a fire burning unattended near or just about inside a hut made of dried wood and palm fronds it will catch fire from just a stray spark or flying hot ash.
Anyway, in my opinion, it is a toss up between Matt and Rob as to who is going to win. I would be more then satisfied to see either of these 2 go to the Final 2. You can debate valid reasons for each of them for who deserves to win. I just hope the Season Finale lives up to the excitment the Survivor Amazon series has brought us so far.
Power Shifts by Gerard Lawrence
Survivor 6 The Amazon has had more switches in one season then all previous 5 seasons combined. From tribal switches, merges and alliances almost every Survivor has held or had the feeling of power. But the one constant through it all has been Rob.
Rob has turned this game upside down not once but a few times. Whenever Rob felt threatened or a more accurate statement would be paranoid about his competition he manages to make the right alliances to rid that person from the tribe, example Dave.
He has put people in position of power only to cut them down when they were no longer needed, examples Deena and Alex.
Rob has been in control of this game ever since the merge back on week 5. He has been living and breathing Survivor since he first arrived in the Amazon and he hasn't looked back or lost focus on the prize. After all, it is a game and he is there to win at all costs.
Once again he shifts power breaking his alliance with Alex, Jenna and Heidi to form a new alliance with Matthew, Butch and Christy. Alex opened his mouth to reveal that he would vote against Rob in the final 4 because Jenna and Heidi would never go against each other. No way he was going to settle for 4th place.
Going into this week (episode 11) the alliance stood with Rob, Matt, Butch and Christy. Looking at the surface Rob is still only assured 4th position, possibly 3rd, an even longer shot at making the final 2. Looking further down the road Rob up against any one of those in the final 2, he loses. Was it part of his plan to get rid of either Butch or Christy this week? That we may never know but one thing we can say for sure is that he got rid of very tough competition (for everyone) in the final 2 with the voting out of Christy.
Now where does the power sit after Christy's departure? Well, Jenna and Heidi have an alliance. Also, Rob and Matthew have an alliance. I can't say how strong either of these alliances are because you just never know in this game. The power lies with Butch. He is in the strongest position since he started playing this game, Butch has the swing vote. He can go to either alliance with "I can help you break the other pair." Butch must realize this if he wants to continue in this game.
If the final 4 ended up being Matt, Rob, Jenna and Heidi you end up with a stale mate. I'm sure no one wants to go digging into a bag of rocks to decide their fate. No one wants to get Paschaled. One of the pairs must be broken up now. Take out the other alliance in the next two Tribal Councils and carry Butch into the final 3. It comes down to who realizes that and who takes advantage of it first.
Butch has a lot of power going into next week. If he can make into the final 3 he has a chance to win. He would HAVE to win the final Immunity Challenge and then pick the person he wants to face in the final 2.
Butch's game is not over yet if he is willing to get his hands dirty. Butch it's ok to open your eyes now Heidi isn't naked anymore!!
