Episode #3:
By Gabriel Cade
The belly-crawling wharf rats of Morgan lose again, and again. Lillian, (still?) one of my picks for the final four faces hempen halter (the noose, for you landlubbers) and Osten shows no sign of a very-necessary shift in attitude (I don’t care what you all say, he still lost both challenges for his team). Luckily, he’s now firmly (I use the term loosely for this tribe) established in their power (again, loosely) core: Andrew (the Attorney), Rhino, Osten (the Mighty), and Tijuana (the Mightier than Osten). Despite what she considered to be a great contribution to the Immunity Challenge (the only person who had it easier was Jon), Darrah will be the next Morgan to leave.
However, will that be a decision Morgan has to make next week? Somehow I don’t think so.
Drake has reached an uneasy point in the Game: they have yet to reach any uneasy points in the Game. Doesn’t make sense? They’re all out there to outwit, outplay, outlast each other, it’s been almost two weeks, and they haven’t even started. For Rotu, who faced a similar situation in Marquesas, the result was an unnaturally strong camaraderie with a somewhat blind eye to the “reality” of the circumstances (okay, so I’m just talking about me), we were all pretty happy to put off the voting for as long as possible. The impression I’m getting from Drake is that they’re ready to start keel-hauling (a la thrown Immunity Challenge next week?). If Jon’s soliloquies are more than the ravings of a madman (he sucks in the challenges, but I bet he’s pretty Game-savvy), then he has a Final Four alliance in place (remember he practically said so), and I bet it doesn’t include Rupert, who would probably only join an alliance he started, and probably wouldn’t start one with Jon.
My hunch, based on a keen understanding of human nature, an insider perspective of the Game, hours of internet research, and 10 minutes of Instant-Messaging with some more alert fans: Drake takes a dive, Rupert doesn’t come back up. Sandra to follow.
This being said, last week’s treemail indicated a “final test” for the tribes; time for “the most AWESOME twist in the history of Survivor?” Like the “photo finish not to be missed?” Is it the rumored resurrection of a fallen comrade (c’mon Lill, bring it on back for the BSA)? Will they be given even more food?
The pitching of this Survivor boat can change very quickly, throwing off a Drake just as easily as a Morgan; it’s all in the hands of the gods (yes, Probst, I mean you and the other puppetmasters). So what would I like to see to keep the Game interested? Morgan wins reward and takes something clever, like the key to Drake’s treasure chest, Drake (intentionally) loses the immunity challenge as well, and Jon saves his ass from ejection by “the big lie,” and in a surprising Tribal Council, I am put back into the Game.
I’ll probably keep watching anyway, though.
