Episode #6:
By Gabriel Cade
Props:
Rupert - Man, you’re still in there; if I’d written my column the last two weeks I would have predicted your absence by now. Way to evade a potential coup this week, and if you watched Marquesas then you know I dig your group-focused attitude. I would have really loved being on a team with you, perhaps more than any other Survivor to date besides Peter. Nice work on the Immunity Challenge, too; I liked the balancing approach.
Ryan O. - You’re my new favorite; I hope you take it all the way. You’re the only person on Morgan consistently sporting a smile, you took the most advantage of your short time with Rupert, Survivor Sensei, and you were lucky enough not to be voted “the leader.” You get major major points with me for your kindness towards animals this week, not to mention your compsure during Osten’s tirade.
Trish - Sorry to see you go; you had the right idea and it’s too bad it didn’t work out. Your understanding of how the Game is probably going to play out was on par with what I expect (barring the strange twists that cannot be factored into predictions).
Osten - Man, I didn’t think you could get any more unlikeable. Way to go.
Sandra and Christa - Excellent work turning the tables on Trish and Jon, but be careful riding the Rupert Train for too long, you can’t beat him in the challenges.
Shawn - Way to not look a gift horse in the mouth. You saved yourself and now you could go very far in the Game. Keep it together, though, you never get to stop contributing to team ideas, even if you don’t agree with them.
Jon - I enjoyed watching you lecture Shawn. Nice hair.
Christa - Very nice job in the Immunity Challenge. I’d be stoked if you won, too. Great pigtails.
Andrew - Way to stay strong; you seemed somehow more likeable last time, but maybe it’s in relation to Osten, who makes you all look good.
Disses:
Osten - You’re a crybaby, and your reaction to the pelican was just plain mean. Every time you’re given a chance to redeem yourself, use your strength, prove it was worth it to keep you, you crumble. I don’t even believe you’ve been bitten by an animal before, as you claimed, since it would take you years to recover from the gripping fear.
Rupert - Relax, dude, it’s not your island, it’s not your adventure; don’t be a hypocrite with all your teamwork talk, remember your role is just one of several that make up the Drake tribe.
Darrah - Nothing major, but why can’t you speak up a little more? You’re cute, you seem nice enough, your audition video was impressive, but I keep forgetting you’re on the show. Are they saving you for the end?
Jon - I can’t believe it, right before the merge (probably) and you burn bridges with both tribes. It was very bad form to rub in Morgan’s losses, especially after they let you wash your hair (props to the whole Morgan tribe for that kindness). Oh yeah, and why haven’t you participated in a single physical challenge yet? You’re lucky I haven’t been keeping “diss records” for the last two episodes.
The Reward Challenge - The cannon thing was stupid. At least set up targets that are going to explode when hit or use boats out in the water. And why did we have to watch them loading their own cannons every time?
The Drake Tribe - Okay, good strategy in a weight contest is to first load everyone up so they’re at least bearing something, then focus on the strong guy. You would have won.
Predictions;
So, next week, the big twist. We all know what it is, so I won’t get into it. I don’t know what it means for the tribes, but I bet Lillian comes back in. Barring this curiousity, if Drake goes to TC it’s Jon’s time to go, and not a moment too soon if you ask me. Why do they have to cast this thing with the people that I hated in high school? If Morgan loses, then it’s Osten. Besides, it looks like he wants to quit, again. Can we please let him this time?!
