Episode 4: "Sump at Sea"

by Michele Kevany

Around a blazing campfire sat Ulong on night eight
Tribal Council left each of them feeling second rate
James told the tribe their derriere's will take a pounding
If their performance for Immunity is less than astounding
Bobby Jon felt confident Ulong could "turn it around"
Once the lesson the tribe needs to learn has been found
On day nine Jen and Katie fetched the treemail for Koror
They were each apprehensive about the message it bore
A tribal representative must be chosen to make a decision
The selection process revealed to Coby a tribal division
Along with Caryn, Janu and Willard he had offered his name
They were discounted and felt like "underdogs" in the game
Tom said this tribal responsibility to Ian they should give
Ian accepted and with his decisions the tribe will have to live
Ulong read their treemail and were uncertain whom to choose
They were short three players and had everything to lose
Stephanie thought it best if they each pulled from a hat
Her tribemates apparently were not down with that
There were no other ideas as to what they should do
They thought to fish instead and boarded their canoe
The tribe chose to wait until the challenge to decide
Ulong's lack of leadership Probst would later deride
Jeff sailed up to Koror and the Reward Challenge was on
He informed them they had to construct a campsite "john"
A privy and a shower area the tribe must build in a day
They will be provided supplies to help them make their way
To construct their bathroom they will be given a boat load
Including a shower and a seat for the tribal commode
If they take timber and twine and build something divine
They'll win a deluxe shelter that will be one of a kind
The "Survivor" construction crew will create a new home
For the tribe that can build the most desirable throne
Jeff said this "kick ass" shelter would be like none before
The rats on Koror's island made them want this even more
As tribal representative Ian joined Jeff on the boat
He shall decide which supplies his tribe will tote
His dad works construction so he had a few clues
Ian selected six tools his tribe will keep as well as use
The next decision Ian made was to sit out Coby, Jen and Janu
These three can offer no help with the building of their loo
Jeff said he would return in the morning for an inspection
Crewmate Jessie will be evaluating their lavatory section
Ulong was at sea and still uncertain with whom to go
A tribemate had not been chosen though they did find "nemo"
They met Jeff on their shore who was dismayed to discover
Their tribal representative was neither one nor the other
Unimpressed, Jeff asked that they call out some names
Their canoe went silent until Bobby Jon elected James
Though none too happy he was selected for the choosing
This challenge had him confident his tribe won't be losing
With a background in construction he will get the job done
There was a beautiful new shelter for his tribe to be won
James banked six tools he felt made a most useful deposit
Ulong began the construction of their tribal watercloset
At Koror the tribe's builders were like busy worker bees
The men did the hammering and the chopping of the trees
Caryn's contribution had her with palm fronds to schlep
While Katie made a sign which read "watch your step"
Though Caryn saw one unit as her tribe worked away
She felt most decisions hinged on what Tom had to say
After the last nail was nailed and the tree leaves were hung
Koror was pleased and proud of the work they had done
At Ulong James was enjoying his authoritative position
He ordered Steph and Angie and expected submission
Stephanie felt that James had her doing less than enough
Angie wanted him to know that girls can also be tough
Kim said she was out of energy and could no longer go
So she laid on the ground with a shower curtain to sew
After much chopping Bobby lost a chance to yell "timber"
All in all James believed Ulong will have a winner for sure
The morning of day ten Jeff returned to Koror as planned
Jessie, "Survivor" 's production designer, was also on hand
After Jeff made the introduction Jessie was set to take a look
He was impressed with what he saw on the tour that he took
Being the "dirtiest in camp" Ian demonstrated their shower
Jeff said if Koror wins a crew will return in a few hours
They sailed to Ulong for the judging of their new facility
Jessie began assessing the function and overall stability
The tribe added a touch that put a grin on our dimpled host
Their toilet seat cover read "for a good time call Jeff Probst"
When Jessie had seen enough he and Jeff left Ulong's ground
Jeff said they'll know if they've won before the sun goes down
Koror was happy with what their camp had already acquired
Yet a shelter was the goal to which their builders had aspired
They trusted their work but wondered how Ulong might do
Until Jeff came sailing up with an entire construction crew
Tom did a few sommesaults while Ian ran about helter skelter
Koror's first Reward Challenge prize was a top-notch shelter
Over at Ulong Ibrehem was monitoring an approaching sunset
He still hoped for a win because "it hasn't set all the way" yet
While at Koror, the building crew quickly got on the ball
When all was completed Ian likened it to the Taj Mahal
They had a shelter, a sitting area and a picnic table as well
A hammock and mats will assure their slumbers are swell
They were given a lantern to guide their sight in the night
And two bottles of champagne that they drank with delight
At Ulong a blanket of night's darkness had settled in
James, stating the obvious, said he guessed they didn't win
The next morning's treemail eluded to a one on one brawl
Ulong was determined Koror be the tribe to take the fall
The survivors met up with Jeff for the immunity idol quest
A sumo style battle will separate the best from the rest
From an above water platform they will need to push their foe off
A padded bag will aid them in being the man or woman sill aloft
Jeff advised them of two rules before the arena was stepped in
Keep both hands on the bag and don't use your feet as a weapon
They'll fight hard to keep their balance in this aggressive mix
Immunity will be awarded to the first tribe to score six
Jeff told the Koror tribe to sit out one woman and two men
Willard will be spared the sparring along with Katie and Ian
The first round's match up was between Tom and Bobby Jon
Tom scored Koror's first point and the sumo battle was on
In round two Stephanie bested Jennifer in their toe-to-toe
With Ulong's first point they were one down five to go
Round three it was Koror's Gregg who made the next score
Ibrehem lost his bag in the fight and sheepishly swam ashore
Caryn was out-muscled by Angie in the fourth round
Angie charged her and with a splash Caryn went down
It was a tie when James and Coby went head to head
James aimed to score a point but Coby did it instead
Round six was a match up between Kim and Janu
Janu made pushing off an opponent look easy to do
In round seven Tom again forced Bobby Jon to take a dive
This sumo challenge had Ulong trailing Koror two to five
An eighth round re-match with Steph and Jen narrowed the gap
A few padded shoves and Stephanie put Ulong back on the map
In round nine Ibrehem showed Gregg he could get the job done
Gregg went into the water placing Ulong behind by just one
Round ten once more had Angie making quick work of Caryn
Angie wanted Koror to have a Tribal Council fate to share in
The eleventh and final round for Coby and James was "do or die"
This sumo style battle for Immunity was now in a five-five tie
These two survivors put their all behind every padded blow
But Coby sunk his prey and sailed off with the idol in tow
The prospect of another Tribal Council had sent Ulong reeling
They returned to their island and commenced with the dealing
James felt vulnerable after the pounding he took from Coby
He knew losing his rounds could mean a torch snuffing he'll see
So he relayed to his tribemates reason's they should dump Kim
She contributed very little around camp in comparison to him
Kim wanted Steph and Angie to contemplate a gender war
If she were voted off they might have a pecking order in store
The women could be targets with gender lines drawn three-two
Angie expressed confusion in deciding the right thing to do
She agreed with Kim about keeping the women's numbers high
Yet felt James was a help to Ulong when challenges were nigh
They headed off for Tribal Council on the eleventh night
Another survivor will no longer be a part of their fight
Jeff greeted the tribe saying he had saved their seats
A sarcastic remark aimed at Ulong's numerous defeats
He questioned them about how the next vote will go
Will they oust their weakest link or keep them in tow?
With a vote of five to one it was more than a whim
The torch that Jeff snuffed belonged to Kim
