Poetic Recaps
by Michele Kevany
At Koror on night eleven Gregg whispered something funny
The tribe heard giggles from Jennifer, Gregg's snuggle bunny
Their budding romance was obvious to Coby and the others
Could they be plotting and scheming under the covers?
The tribe relied on Willard to tend the fire while they slept
His groggy indifference made it a chore Tom had to accept
Tom resented the extra work when he'd been hoping to retire
He had to climb over Willard in the hammock to reach the fire
An utter drenching to Ulong is what a thunderstorm gave
So in the dark of night the tribe went searching for a cave
The five wandered for an hour, clearly having lost their way
The women wanted to return to camp and call it a day
Bobby Jon was confident in which direction they should go
Angie and Steph, unlike the men, were not feeling "gung ho"
Fearing lightening could strike they hiked back to their camp
James told the tribe "never falter" on this night most damp
The morning of day twelve Ulong was weary from the rain
This tribe had nearly all of their strength and morale to regain
At Koror Tom was irked by Willard's work shirking behavior
He'd stressed the importance of fire so why must he belabor
Tom wondered if Willard was trying to wear him down
Hoping exhaustion might run Tom's game into the ground
Tom said he will bite his lip and "keep playing the game"
If Willard gets the boot he'll have only himself to blame
To the next Reward Challenge the tribes took a paddled trek
They'll be diving to the battered shell of a wartime shipwreck
Upon the watery ruins fourteen sake bottles have been strung
Be the first tribe to salvage six and the Reward will be won
A tribemate will board a skiff with a pulley system in place
Whichever tribe pulls the hardest could be ahead in the race
One by one they will glide with an opponent at their side
A buoy marks the spot were they will be making a dive
They'll want to pull their tribemate to the buoy full-throttle
Once it's reached their player can take a dive for a bottle
After retrieving the sake they will board the skiff once more
Then be pulled to the dock by their tribemates offshore
Jeff said the winning tribe will be given something to chew
They're playing for bread, root beer and a plate of beef stew
He said that was the good news for those who secure a bite
The bad news is they'll be dining at Tribal Council that night
Win or lose, a player from each tribe will bid the game adieu
Two more torches will be snuffed before this night is through
The winners go to Tribal Council first and send a player away
Then "cross over to the jury side" for the Reward won that day
The losing tribe will then enter for a ceremony of their own
They'll watch the winners eat as they send a tribemate home
With the challenge explained Jeff had one last thing to do
The Koror tribe sat out Willard, Katie, Caryn and Janu
Jennifer and Stephanie were the first two given a ride
They retrieved a bottle and returned nearly side by side
Gregg was leading Angie as the two sped toward the wreck
However Angie was pulled in first and put a bottle on deck
Ibrehem was leading when Coby's skiff set out offshore
But he made one failed dive and then he made two more
Ibrehem returned defeated and Ulong sent out Bobby Jon
By then Coby had returned with a bottle and so had Tom
Ian was nearing the buoy when James was put on the skiff
James caught up, retrieved a bottle and was back in a jiff
Ian couldn't see the bottles so Koror yelled "they're white!"
He returned just ahead of Stephanie and the race was tight
Ulong and Koror were each one bottle away from a win
Stephanie and Ian stayed atop their skiff and sped off again
Ian was pulled in first and the Reward Challenge was through
Koror will be going to Tribal for an ousting and some stew
Back at camp the winning tribe was excited about the meal
Some were also thinking about the flip side of the deal
After twelve days the Koror nine will soon become eight
For one player the root beer and stew will come too late
Coby requested they keep the happiness subdued
While gorging on the much anticipated food
This kindness Coby wished to offer Ulong
Was an inspiration to Ian, who sang a song
"I don't have to eat clams today
I don't have to go play in the bay
I don't have to go and find seashells
Poor Ulong is in the survivor hell"
A pretty fair assessment for the Ulong five
Ian himself said they were a "decimated" tribe
Ulong's players will soon count a weary number four
When the sun sets they will see Tribal Council once more
Back at Ulong's camp James was seething over their defeat
He was lamenting the bread and beef stew they will not eat
Stephanie said watching will be a sickening sight to be seen
Ibrehem said he had panicked and felt he had lost it for the team
He asked Bobby Jon for a "head's up" if his chances were slim
Bobby Jon thought it only fair that the votes be for Ibrehem
At Koror the consensus named Willard their leading candidate
Poor work ethics and crankiness were causing nerves to grate
Gregg mentioned Willard's body is weak but his mind is sound
Tom said in mental challenges he doesn't want Willard around
Willard asked Coby what the Koror tribe was planning to do
Coby confirmed to Willard that his survivor days were through
Gregg told Coby that Jen and he had a "soft alliance" of five
Along with Katie, Tom and Ian they had the numbers in the tribe
Gregg said Jen and he wanted an alliance with Coby, Caryn and Janu
Coby agreed taking out Tom and Ian was what they needed to do
They paddled off for their first Tribal since hitting the beach
Each anxious to have the bread and beef stew within reach
Jeff had them light their torchs, the symbol of life in the game
One newly lit torch will soon be extinguished of it's flame
Jeff asked the usual questions about leaders and providers
Who was social, who had bonded, were there any outsiders
Gregg mentioned a father-son bond with Ian and Tom
A social Coby said he plans on being himself all along
Jeff asked Willard how he was viewed in the tribe
Willard said it's hard for a weak player to stay alive
One by one the Koror tribe put pen to paper and wrote
Their Tribal Council outcome was an eight to one vote
The first time that night "the tribe has spoken" was heard
The torch that Jeff snuffed belonged to Willard
Koror was finished so they moved to the juror's seats
They eagerly awaited their Reward's hard earned "eats"
The Ulong tribe filed in for the fifth night in twelve
And braced for the sight of Koror's culinary delve
Janu uncovered the feast and they knew what to do
They each popped a root beer, broke bread and ate stew
Angie had her head down, her face covered in despair
She was uncertain how much more of this she could bear
Jeff noticed the tribe had carried with them alot of gear
Bobby Jon said he'd be ready in case a merge was near
That would not happen tonight, they had a vote ahead
So as Koror dined Jeff asked the tribe questions instead
Angie said a win would have really boosted team spirit
Stephanie agreed but Ibrehem looked pained to hear it
He wanted all of his actions to be considered collectively
Not to let his performance in one challenge be all they see
It appeared however Ibrehem was at the top of every list
Jeff disrupted a few plans when he threw in one last twist
The last part of Koror's Reward was to grant a player Immunity
Someone will return to camp still a part of Ulong's community
Koror will cast their votes for the survivor they wish to remain
The other players will be eligible for an early end to their game
For the second time that evening Koror wrote a name down
Jeff read the votes and three wanted to keep Ibrehem in town
With just one player short, the feasted Koror was excused
There will be a wait before learning whom Ulong will choose
The tribe cast their votes certain only of Ibrehem playing on
It was one vote for James and a tie for Angie and Bobby Jon
Omitting the two who were even, they again took pen in hand
Either Bobby Jon or Angie will no longer be a part of this band
The tie-breaker vote tally read a unanimous three
The torch that Jeff snuffed belonged to Angie
