Poetic Recaps
by Michele Kevany
The Ulong tribe of three was doing chores on day sixteen
They were reflecting on the near annihilation of their team
Each one felt discharging James was best for their game
Still their shrinking ranks were hard to take just the same
Stephanie expressed shock and surprise at her tribes fate
Though down in numbers, she didn't think it was too late
Past survivors had fared well despite being low in number
Stephanie didn't view their chances as hopelessly asunder
Ibrehem saw Ulong more as "three friends" than as a tribe
He sensed something would "pan out" to keep them alive
Ibrehem felt their situation might have given him an edge
Between a rock and a hard place he did not feel wedged
Later in the day while Bobby Jon and Steph were alone
Stephanie asked Bobby if Ibrehem was still going home
She felt the two could go far if they see their plan through
Bobby gave her a vague "you gotta do what you gotta do"
At Koror Tom's stomach muscles were taking a crunch
When Ian came ashore with a giant clam for their lunch
He proudly proclaimed "it's six or seven pounds of meat"
Ian hoped he'd be seen as useful by helping Koror to eat
While the tribe was enjoying a survivor style clam fry
They noticed off the shore a shark swimming nearby
The shells of the giant clam had been laid on the beach
Their presence is what brought little jaws within reach
Gregg and Ian threw spears at their prey, yet to no avail
The shark had gotten away and Ian cut his foot on a nail
From "out of nowhere" Gregg saw Tom had a shark in hand
Gregg said "for a city boy from New York...he's a madman"
After having chopped and tackled the fish it was no lark
Tom exuberantly exclaimed "how's that for a shark!"
The Koror tribe was impressed with Tom's brave kill
Including Ian, though he had other thoughts as well
He felt "one upped" by Tom and his daring shark tale
Ian joked that now he'd need to get a hump-backed whale
Tom knew he was viewed as strong, he had left no doubt
Coby felt it could be tougher voting a food provider out
The next day at Koror Gregg and Jenn retrieved the mail
It told of a Reward Challenge neither tribe will want to fail
Four verses on a scroll had been tucked inside a bottle
They'll need to create an SOS with no time to dawdle
With Bob, a "drop specialist", Jeff will fly over the camps
The tribe with the best signal Bob will deem the champs
If they pair their resources with ideas and muscle power
There'll be food to "devour" from the plane in one "hour"
A parachute will float a crate to the winning tribe's shore
Inside they will find an arsenal of military rations galore
Koror had to sit out five to match the Ulong tribe's three
Tom, Ian, Coby, Jenn and Janu were the five it would be
That left Caryn, Gregg and Katie to complete the task
Sitting idly by for Tom was practically too much to ask
At Ulong the treemail had the three outlaying their plan
They would do their best to create an SOS on the sand
Stephanie told them they should "burn the friggin' shelter"
The tribe worked under a hot sun that made them swelter
Bobby pondered Koror's signal while he toted the wood
He said they had "smart people" and would likely do good
They spelled out "ULONG" from the ruins of their abode
The lettering also included wood from their tribal commode
Each giant letter was set on fire to aid their hopeful SOS
If Bob is not impressed that will add to Ulong's distress
At Koror they used coconuts to spell out "GOT FOOD?"
The giant clam and shark they ate had lightened the mood
Gregg piled two "fire bundles" next to their giant words
He delayed the ignition as to alert more than the birds
The plane flying Jeff and Bob viewed Ulong's sign first
Bobby Jon ran into the water as if he were dying of thirst
Jeff asked Bob for his opinion on Ulong's plea for rescue
Bob had seen enough and off to the Koror camp they flew
Gregg feared his delaying the fire may cost his tribe dear
He was trying to light the bundles as the plane drew near
Coby was looking for a fire but saw no smoke as proof
Tom was feeling very much like "a cat on a hot tin roof"
When the plane flew overhead Bob assessed the sight
Koror's "fire bundles" gave off nary a shimmer of light
After viewing both signals, an analysis is what Bob gave
He declared the Koror camp the most likely to be saved
Bob felt Ulong's SOS was good though not as easily seen
Koror's was more visible making them the rescued team
The tribe's feeling of an opportunity missed turned to bliss
When the plane flew overhead Cayrn gave each one a kiss
Their crate contained fishing gear, dried food and red wine
For the second day in a row Koror's tribe had a feast divine
Gregg wondered how Ulong could stay "mentally strong"
He said they must be "beat up" with their tribe nearly gone
Ulong looked skyward at the hopeful sound of Jeff's plane
Yet it vanished from sight leaving them with nothing to gain
It had been an exhausting day for Bobby, Steph and Ibrehem
Bobby Jon said Koror had "worked smarter, knowing them"
Back at the Koror camp a romance was drawing attention
The bond shared by Gregg and Jenn was causing dissension
Coby summed up his thoughts on the pair with "don't care"
As long as his alliance with the cozy lovebirds is still there
Gregg offered to hike off with Jenn to make a water run
He asked her how their bond may be taken by everyone
Gregg wanted to know if she felt it could do them harm
Jenn said she felt Gregg was inconsistent with his charm
On day eighteen Bobby Jon put food on Ulong's flame
Catching a blackfish was like scoring a point in a game
Bobby's latest fishing expedition didn't end up a sham
The blackfish was preceded by a dive for a giant clam
Ulong's tribe of three felt nourished after the big meal
They anticipated the next challenge in hopes of a steal
The tribe collected their treemail which included a puzzle
For Immunity they'll need all the smarts they can muscle
Studying the object was vital for improving their chance
A loss will have Ulong doing their seventh Tribal dance
The two tribes met Jeff and another challenge was on
Which beach will the little wooden idol man sit upon?
Life size versions of their "sea star puzzle" were afloat
The first to rearrange the pieces might appear to gloat
Each puzzle's pattern had been scrambled at random
Three survivors from each tribe will work in tandem
Koror needed once more to sit out five from their eight
Gregg, Caryn, Katie, Tom and Ian won't be at the gate
A caller from each team will be used for the inspection
While the other players are in the water taking direction
Coby and Bobby Jon hoped not to lead their team astray
Nobody wants to see Tribal Council at the end of the day
Coby calmly began giving directions to Jenn and Janu
Bobby Jon on the other hand was uncertain what to do
He tried to help Ibrehem and Steph put the pieces in place
Bobby did so with a most bewildered look on his face
After thirty minutes he asked Stephanie to switch positions
Ibrehem and Bobby Jon then followed Steph's intuitions
Koror was ahead throughout in spite of Janu's fatigue
Though Steph's instructions had Ulong closing the lead
It was a "too little too late" effort, for Koror took the prize
The reality of another Tribal etched wearily in Ulong's eyes
It was hard for them to fathom the error of their ways
Once again Koror will have the idol for a few more days
The little Ulong tribe of three will soon be down to two
Back at camp they will ponder what it is they should do
Ibrehem said their Tribal run has to be one for the books
Stephanie worried if Bobby was still attached to her hooks
She asked Bobby Jon if their agreement was still in action
A clear affirmation would have met with Steph's satisfaction
After Bobby's "wishy washy" reply she felt like an "outcast"
Steph feared the Alabama boys will end her chance to last
Cautiously, she told Ibrehem that Bobby Jon was in control
She asked why he had the say on how the dice should roll
Ibrehem listened intently and then replied "I don't know"
In frustration, Stephanie said she was "not ready to go"
A "final three" at Tribal Council seven was a unique sight
Ulong did not feel outstanding on this eighteenth night
Jeff once again asked about their dismal losing streak
He wanted to know why the tribe's fate was so bleak?
Bobby Jon thought perhaps he was some sort of hex
Ibrehem said emotions have become more complex
Stephanie felt embarrassment about all the defeats
She is accustomed to winning when she competes
Emotion could be heard welling up in Steph's throat
One by one Jeff had the Ulong tribe cast their vote
Losing this tribemate was much to their chagrin
The torch that Jeff snuffed belonged to Ibrehem
