Poetic Recaps
by Michele Kevany
Stephanie returned to camp, remarking "it's just me now"
She was the last Ulong to be found in the Islands of Palau
Feeling scared yet excited she braced herself for the night
Seeing light from the campfire was a most welcome sight
Steph stoked the fire, feeding the flames into a warm blaze
And contemplated how she will survive the next few days
Being on her own will be the "scariest thing I've ever done"
She was thankful to be back at camp on night twenty one
Stephanie acquired her fire making skills from Bobby Jon
She said he had taught her so well that now he was gone
After the long and grueling day she was in need of sleep
She had one eye on the flames, wanting the fire to keep
On day twenty two Stephanie said "seventeen to go"
She had water to fetch, fire to tend, and a canoe to row
After chopping a coconut she paused to catch her breath
Steph was feeling as though she might "starve to death"
How she will manage on her own was cause for concern
Stephanie would bravely apply the skills she has learned
At Koror that same morning the tribe was lounging about
Ian said they're "lethargic...skinny" and plain tuckered out
Two in their ranks, Ian felt, were dragging the tribe down
He would not mind in the least if Janu and Coby left town
Ian believed Coby's pouting was a source of tribal static
Janu was like having a "dysfunctional aunt in the attic"
She does nothing aside from lay in the hammock all day
While Coby likes to whine when he doesn't get his way
Just off the shore Coby was giving Caryn a shampoo
He said on this day none of Koror's work would he do
If they're out of wood and water it will serve them right
Coby spoke as though he were gearing up for a fight
At Ulong Stephanie tried fishing for something to eat
With sling in hand she snorkeled for an undersea treat
She would have been happy to find a clam or small fish
Steph scoured the depths yet found nothing for her dish
Back at camp she turned her attention to a coconut tree
Using bamboo she attempted to knock a coconut free
After nearly dislocating her shoulder, she gave it a climb
Stephanie had a coconut hitting the ground in no time
She toasted her meal thinking about how far she had come
It was "tough", but winning the game would be "awesome"
Stephanie's treemail was a canister with something inside
The can read "Do Not Open, Give To The Koror Tribe"
Included in Ulong's final treemail was a map and a note
Steph learned that soon she would be boarding her boat
She was to take what she wanted and leave Ulong's shore
The enclosed map will guide her journey to camp Koror
This most welcome treemail lightened Stephanie's mood
She said "it's a merge, I'm going to have friends and food"
Her outrigger was quickly packed and soon Steph was gone
She paddled her canoe away and said "See you later Ulong"
When she arrived at Koror's shore she headed up the beach
Jen said "here she comes!"
when Stephanie was within reach
The Koror tribe welcomed her with cheers and open arms
Katie and Jennifer in particular really poured on the charm
Ian was happy to see her, saying "it was like having a guest"
What started as Steph's worst day had turned into her best
She said of being alone, "I almost had a nervous breakdown"
Gregg opened the can and handed her a buff in Koror brown
The canister also contained a message for the happy tribe
They deserve some "help"
now that Ulong's been survived
The conquering Koror will now "enjoy the spoils of war"
Palauan visitors will soon be paddling up to their shore
The treemail also said they will need to work for a feast
Steph "retired"
her blue buff and was given a new lease
The Koror camp's accomedation's she viewed as plum
She said it was "heaven compared to where I come from"
Stephanie anticipated food and was about to get her wish
Two Palauan gentlemen arrived to teach them how to fish
Tom, Ian, Coby and Gregg will learn the lessons at hand
The island visitors shared their time honored fishing plan
They'll snare little fish to aid in the snaring of bigger ones
If they master these skills they can have fish by the tons
The small fish the Koror men caught were used as bait
When chopped up and hooked they will work just great
To catch bait, the Palauan's said, one need stay behind
While the other three will accompany them to cast a line
Coby said he would remain ashore and handle the task
He then said he wished to fish and yet he was not asked
Tom reminded Coby that he volunteered to stay on land
Coby balked at what he precieved to be Tom's command
He asked the women if they wanted to help with the chore
Coby got even hotter when Tom tried to assist once more
He said "i'm in charge of bait" and sent Tom on his way
Coby remarked to the ladies about never having any say
Tom, Ian, Gregg and the Palauans journeyed out to sea
Thirteen fish and a lobster is what their catch would be
They returned with dinner and the tribe was overcome
The fishermen then handed them a large bottle of rum
They put rum in the coconut and drank 'em both together
Tom thought "straight up" for this libation might be better
The tribe enjoyed their feast as they sat around the table
Too much celebrating had rendered Tom rather unstable
He stumbled, fell and stumbled on his way to hit the hay
Tom exited the festivities and mercifully called it a day
Steph covered Tom with a blanket, thinking of their pact
She hoped her alliance with Katie, Tom and Ian was intact
Next morning Tom and Ian fished with their island guests
Having shared in Palauan customs made Tom feel blessed
The tribe gathered by the sea to bid their visitors goodbye
Coby believed that Tom was being a less than genuine guy
He felt that Stephanie could help advance him in the game
So he stepped away from the tribe and called out her name
Coby filled in Stephanie about division's within the group
Their conversation threw Jennifer and Katie for a loop
The girls were anxious to learn all that Coby was saying
Once they got Stephanie alone they asked for a replaying
She said according to Coby the two were jealous of her
They said Coby was wrong and of that she can be sure
A few days with Koror and Steph was filled with doubt
Where to place her trust is what she needed to figure out
Later on the fishing and conversations took a back seat
An individual Immunity Challenge will leave eight in defeat
Jeff told them they will stand atop an above water perch
Sitting, falling or jumping off will leave them in the lurch
For the player who outlasts, Jeff had a necklace to bestow
He then said after the challenge to Tribal Council they'll go
They swam out to a perch and soon all nine of them stood
They'll need to maintain a stance on a small piece of wood
After one hour Jeff enticed the survivors with a sweet treat
Donuts will be consumed by whomever gets off their feet
Coby jumped in at the sight and was soon followed by Janu
Neither seemed to mind that their game may now be through
Jeff asked the tribe if jumping for food was a wise pursuit
Ian smiled and answered back he'd jump for a few Balute
Two and a half hours in Jeff gave them a yummy temptation
Chocolate chip cookies and milk were an immediate sensation
Jeff gave them fifteen seconds for the option of jumping in
Katie, Jen, Ian and Gregg chose to forgo an Immunity win
Caryn, Stephanie and Tom would continue on in the game
This necklace they wish to claim will protect their flame
After three hours had elapsed Jeff tempted them yet again
This time they will be given only five seconds to jump in
When they saw a pizza two of them forgot about the cash
Stephanie and Caryn enthusiastically made a loud splash
Jeff placed the Immunity necklace around Tom's neck
He then told Koror they would begin their Tribal trek
They arrived at Tribal Council on this night twenty four
It was old times for Steph, yet only visit two for Koror
Jeff wondered how the eight who jumped might feel
If it turns out they've just eaten a million dollar meal
He asked Stephanie about joining a tribe that is tight
She said she felt vulnerable about the vote that night
Jeff asked Jen if Steph's merge was cause for regret
Jen said Steph was strong and is certainly a threat
Janu felt vulnerable, as her productivity level was bad
Coby commented there were "other targets to be had"
Though he felt the pecking order was easy to surmise
One must always factor in a Tribal Council surprise
For this survivor thought he would be vote free
The torch that Jeff snuffed belonged to Coby
