Battle of the Burnett’s
by Rich Glanzer
Apprentice or Survivor? Many of my friends who know I love Survivor, have come to me this season and told me how much better of a show The Apprentice is. The thing is, they’re right. For now.
But that will change in around six weeks or so. Survivor is at its weakest the first few episodes. No one really knows any of the competitors. While the votes are sometimes based on personality issues instead of strategic purposes, that great knife in the back moment can’t really happen until close to the merge. Sure back stabbings can occur the very first episode, but at that point, the viewers haven’t really grown attached to anyone. So the back stabbings aren’t as fun to watch as Boston Rob vs. Lex.
As for strategy, of course gamesmanship is taking place, but the real juicy Survivor moments are still weeks away.
But for The Apprentice it’s just the opposite. Much like American Idol, the train wreck happens early. While I watched every episode of The Apprentice last season, I definitely enjoyed the first few episodes more than the last. Watching Donald Trump rip Sam (the quasi crazy guy) was much more fun than him telling Troy, Amy or Nick they did a great job, but they’re fired.
There’s really relatively no backstabbing in The Apprentice, because in the end, Trump’s decision is the only one that matters. No matter how many times Carolyn turns to Trump at the end of the show and says, “I agree.”
So for the next few weeks or so, enjoy The Board Room. Look forward to 9:42. I know I do. But after the merge, there’s nothing like a good ol’ fashioned Tribal Council.
Sorry Donald, but the tribe has spoken. You’re….well you get the gist.
