The More Things Stay the Same...
by Rich Glanzer
If you look back at many of my previous articles, you will find many that are very similar to this one. Trust me.
While in Survivor, you can expect the unexpected, you can also expect a woman to win from now on. That’s because the men never look past the present. And in Survivor, that’s not how you should play the game. Burton actually came to Rupert and suggested an all physically powerful alliance. Rupert instead chose to stick with the girls, and once the merge hit, the girls couldn’t save him.
Earlier this season one of the strong men, they’re all but gone now, went to Sarge and asked him to join an all powerful male group. Sarge declined, and now is in a very weak group of five.
Don’t get me wrong, the women aren’t exempt from this type of stupidity either. Dolly looked by all accounts to be the strongest physically, and she was the first person voted off. Next came Mia. Scout is in no danger, yet she made sure the women had no chance to win two of the challenges they’ve lost. Scout should have been the first to go. Respect your elders, but do it from far away is my theory. On Survivor that is.
As for the men, they can still beat the girls in physical challenges. They can still beat the girls in mental challenges. Only now, the girls are more even than they’ve ever been. Weak after weak (spelled that way on purpose) the men have decided to keep their weak, and send away their strong. I would love nothing more than to see the men pay the ultimate price, and have the last seven remaining players be all women.
For what it’s worth, the dumbest player on the men’s team is Sarge. Let’s face it, come merge time, and there will be a merge, the girls are going to view him as the biggest threat now. They won’t view Rory as a threat either physically or mentally. Chris lost to Scout in a one on one physical battle, so he would probably be safe. John K. will be gone next week. Chad has one leg, and though it looks like he’s one of the more physically able men on the “team” the girls may view the perception rather than the reality. And Chris is not nearly the mental threat the Sarge is.
Sarge had a chance to join an alliance that is strong. Something he could be proud of. An alliance where when the merge hit, they would probably dominate, and if they didn’t, he’d be the last man with that giant X on his back. Now that X will be firmly planted on him, and I’ll be smiling when the women extinguish his torch. Just another man that doesn’t know how to play the game.
